André Rieu and his Johann Strauss Orchestra to Appear on Good Morning America on December 6

André Rieu and his Johann Strauss Orchestra stopped traffic in Times Square this week when the 50-person entourage blew into New York to bring their brand of holiday cheer to Good Morning America.  Rieu and the JSO performed songs from his latest Universal release, Home For The Holidays, exclusively for GMA.  The first taping is scheduled to air Thursday, December 6 during the 8:30 AM segment.

Produced entirely by André & Marjorie Rieu and their production company, Home For The Holidays features two hours of Christmas-themed music, filmed and recorded in a winter wonderland setting designed by Rieu himself in his hometown of Maastricht, Holland.

With American fans in mind, holiday classics such as O Come All Ye Faithful, Silent Night, Jingle Bells and White Christmas were recorded in locations decorated with thousands of lights and glitter.

Just in time for the holiday season, a spectacular one-hour television broadcast will air in December on stations across the U.S., featuring select footage from the Home For The Holidays DVD.  Check local listings for show information in your area.

One of the best-selling live acts in the world, Rieu is returning to the U.S. and Canada with a brand new show, kicking off March 7 in Orlando’s Amway.  The upcoming dates will be part of Rieu’s international “And The Waltz Goes On Tour,” named after his successful album for which he collaborated with Sir Anthony Hopkins and won his second consecutive Classic BRIT Award. The complete itinerary can be found below.

Rieu has sold over 32 million albums globally, received 243 platinum awards for his albums and has broken all classical concert records, packing stadiums and arenas with more than 700,000 adoring fans each year. With his natural charisma, Rieu creates a celebratory atmosphere as he conducts his 60-piece Johann Strauss Orchestra and plays his 1667 Stradivarius violin.

The maestro and his orchestra will perform beautiful waltzes on this tour, but the concerts are much more than that. From famous Viennese operettas to film scores, spirituals to musicals, and folk songs to marches, Rieu’s concerts are a perfect mix of thrilling, romantic, festive and emotional melodies combined with balloons, beautiful soloists, Rieu’s great sense of humor—and, of course, surprises.

2012 has been a very successful year for the violinist so far.  Rieu performed a record-breaking series of 30 sold-out concerts in Sao Paulo, Brazil and has been nominated for a prestigious Mexican Luna Award.  Rieu’s first tour of Brazil is the highest grossing tour in July, according to Pollstar magazine, surpassing tours from artists such as Lady Gaga, Bruce Springsteen, Radiohead, Coldplay, Celine Dion, The Black Keys and Pearl Jam.
