Los Angeles, CA (May 1, 2013) – Unearthing a concert that captures one of the most influential bands of the 1990s standing on the cusp of becoming a multi-platinum household name, UMe, Geffen, Gasoline Alley and Skunk Records have announced the upcoming release of Sublime’s 3-Ring Circus: Live at the Palace – October 21, 1995. Set for release on June 18, 2013, the package marks the first-ever complete Sublime concert to be officially released on DVD and CD. This new release also celebrates the 25th anniversary of the seminal Long Beach, CA band, who performed their first official show on July 4, 1988 and went on to release a string of critically acclaimed hit singles. In the process, they earned legions of devoted fans during a vital career that inspired countless other artists. 3-Ring Circus: Live at the Palace – October 21, 1995 is currently available for pre-order at the Sublime store (http://sublimelbc.com/store) and Amazon (http://smarturl.it/SublimePalaceCDDVD).
3-Ring Circus: Live at the Palace – October 21, 1995 catches the trio of late frontman/guitarist/songwriter Bradley Nowell, bassist Eric Wilson and drummer Bud Gaugh in top form before a packed house at the legendary Palace in Hollywood, CA. Sublime tears through 27 songs, including their hits “Date Rape,” “Badfish,” and “40 Oz To Freedom,” as well as covers of classic songs that reflect the band’s broad stylistic range of influences (“54-46 Was My Number” by Toots & the Maytals, “House of Suffering” by Bad Brains and the Grateful Dead’s “Scarlet Begonias”). More than 78 minutes of the band’s performance and on-stage antics are on full display in a sold-out setting, with remastered and remixed multi-source live audio culled from the original master tapes.
3-Ring Circus: Live at the Palace – October 21, 1995 will be available in three package configurations. The DVD package will contain the concert video, which is newly edited using Hi-8 video and recently discovered 16mm and Super 8 film footage; a CD version will contain the live concert audio; and a 2DVD+CD Deluxe package will feature the audio and video, the original Hi-8 Palace concert video (unedited), an exclusive poster and laminated backstage pass housed in an eco-friendly 8-panel softpak, as well as an additional bonus concert video of Sublime live at the Las Palmas Theater (from February 17, 1995).

In October of 1995, Sublime was riding the momentum of a year that saw them sign a record deal with MCA Records’ subsidiary Gasoline Alley, as well as heavy rotation on KROQ for their single “Date Rape,” originally released on the band’s brilliant 1992 Skunk Records album, 40 oz. to Freedom (now nearly 3X platinum). The Long Beach trio had also just come off of a headlining slot on that summer’s Warped Tour—the first ever edition of that perennial trek—from which Sublime were subsequently booted from the East Coast leg for their infamously chaotic debauchery (before being asked back). With a surprise runaway local hit from an album the band had been selling for three years from the trunks of their cars, Sublime and its innovative musical fusion and subcultural voice were on their way to becoming an underground classic. Sublime’s 1995 “3-Ring Circus” tour also featured support from Chicago’s renowned schizophrenic street denizen and anti-hero, the late Wesley Willis, and his Fiasco Band; Brooklyn’s hip-hop ensemble Lordz of Brooklyn; and a young group of unknown adolescents from “the Valley” called Incubus.
