“Vermeer and Music: the Art of Love and Leisure” Celebrates the Art and Life of Johannes Vermeer’s Career in Exclusive Cinema Event

Centennial, Colo. – Sept. 30, 2013 – Showcasing more than half of Johannes Vermeer’s paintings in HD from a new exhibition from London’s National Gallery for the first time ever, NCM Fathom Events, PhilGrabskyFilms.com and BY Experience continue their presentation of the “EXHIBITION” series with “Vermeer and Music: the Art of Love and Leisure on Thursday, Oct. 10 at 7:30 p.m. local time. Following the “Manet: Portraying Life” event in April and “Munch 150” event in June, this fascinating series continues as “Vermeer and Music: the Art of Love and Leisure” offers a fresh look of one of the most startling and fascinating artists of all time. Audiences will be flown around the world to The National Gallery in London, The Netherlands, New York and Washington for an in-depth look into Vermeer’s biography and artistic output as well as musical pastimes of the 17th century.

Tickets for “Vermeer and Music: the Art of Love and Leisure” are available at participating theater box offices and online at www.FathomEvents.com. The event will be broadcast to more than 500 select movie theaters across the country through NCM’s exclusive Digital Broadcast Network.

This in-theater event will combine the art of Vermeer and his contemporaries with rare musical instruments, songbooks and live music from the Academy of Ancient Music as well as an exclusive big screen view of the new Vermeer Room at the Metropolitan Museum of Art; where five of Vermeer’s works are hanging together for the first time.  Along the way, expert commentaries from the world’s leading authorities will provide further insight into Vermeer and his impressive artistic career.
