Rob Thomas plans to release a solo album late this summer, but fans can hear new material early on The Great Unknown 2015 Tour. Thomas will kick off the 37-city tour June 11 in Orillia, Ont.

“I’ll be playing some of the new stuff, some of the old stuff — a little bit of everything,” Thomas said in a tongue-in-cheek YouTube video announcing the tour. In the clip, Thomas also said he would release a single from the album at the beginning of the summer.

Thomas announced the title for his new solo album on Twitter last summer.

As frontman for Matchbox Twenty, Thomas has written and sung such hits as Push, Bent and If You’re Gone. He has also had several hits as a solo act, including Lonely No More and This Is How a Heart Breaks. Thomas won three Grammys for his work as a vocalist and co-writer on Santana’s 1999 smash, Smooth.

The Great Unknown will be Thomas’ third solo set, his first since 2009’s Cradlesong.

Plain White T’s will be special guests on The Great Unknown 2015 Tour, which will continue through Aug. 10.

Ticket pre-sales will begin Wednesday, and tickets will go on sale Friday and Saturday for most shows.
