THE ‘FABULOUS’ FORUM CONTINUES TO DOMINATE SOUTHLAND’S CONCERT MARKET SHARE
Inglewood, CA (JUNE 29, 2016) The “Fabulous” Forum, named the No. 1 western U.S. arena in 2015, continues its domination in Southland concert events in 2016. During the first half of 2016 (January 1, 2016 – June 30, 2016), the largest entertainment-only venue ranked No. 1, boasting a 36% concert market share among Southland events, double of its closest competitor.* The iconic venue, which is owned and operated by the Madison Square Garden Company, is poised to continue its market dominance with a calendar which is already boasting more than twice the amount of additional events before the end of the year compared to other nearby venues. These events place the Forum ahead of all other venues in market share for announced shows from July 1, 2016 – December 31, 2016, and significantly ahead of all other arenas.
The indisputable success of the Forum has been further validated by the recent announcement of a Las Vegas entertainment-only venue being created by The Madison Square Garden Company and Las Vegas Sands Corp. This groundbreaking entertainment venue will be the world’s largest and is expected to be a major destination to bring music fans to the city.
Upcoming 2016 Forum highlights include multi-night performances of today’s most-anticipated concerts and events, such as Kanye West (four shows), Mana (four shows), Drake (three shows), Gwen Stefani (two shows), blink-182 (two shows), and Louis C.K. (two shows). Earlier this year, Rihanna and Iron Maiden made multi-night stands with two shows each. Additionally, the Forum is looking forward to welcoming the Teen Choice Awards on July 31 and Activision’s Call of Duty XP 2016 September 2 through September 4.
In addition to some of the hottest concerts, the Forum has also hosted a number of other high profile concerts and events including the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards (two consecutive years), WE Day California, the iHeartRadio Music Awards, the Los Angeles Rams Cheerleaders’ final auditions, David Gilmour, Black Sabbath, and the American Country Countdown Awards, which brought this awards show to Los Angeles for the first time in ten years. This year, the Forum also hosted another HBO Live televised boxing match, a title fight between Gennady “GGG” Golovkin and Dominic Wade, and UFC 199, a title fight between Luke Rockhold and Michael Bisping. Most recently, Kanye West unveiled the new visual for his Life of Pablo single “Famous” at a premiere event.
*Percentage based on 59 concert events January 1, 2016 – June 30, 2016 for the top seven Los Angeles, Anaheim, and Long Beach venues.
