‘Rooster Teeth: Let’s Play Live,’ Brings Fan Favorite YouTube Entertainers to the Big Screen for One Explosive Night of Gaming and Comedy
Fathom Events and Rooster Teeth Present ’Let’s Play Live’ Live in Movie Theaters Nationwide on October 8 Only
DENVER – September 12, 2016 – U.S. gaming fans are about to experience a one-of-a-kind event when their favorite YouTube entertainers join together on stage for a non-stop frenzy of gaming and comedy. Fathom Events and Rooster Teeth are teaming up for a special one-night event, “Let’s Play Live,” which will be broadcast live from the Manhattan Center Hammerstein Ballroom at New York Comic Con to movie theaters across the country for the first time on Saturday, October 8 at 8:00 p.m. ET / 7:00 p.m. CT / 6:00 p.m. MT / 5:00 p.m. PT. “Let’s Play Live,” will unite a powerhouse YouTube gaming roster that will feature Achievement Hunter, Funhaus, Cow Chop and surprise guests, all doing what they do best (and worst) in good fun.
Tickets for “Let’s Play Live” can be purchased online by visiting www.FathomEvents.com or at participating theater box offices. Fans throughout the U.S. will be able to enjoy the event in more than 240 movie theaters through Fathom’s Digital Broadcast Network. For a complete list of theater locations visit the Fathom Events website (theaters and participants are subject to change).
“We’re going to shake the Windy Apple to its very core. Somehow, we’ve sold out the Hammerstein Ballroom, during New York Comic Con, so I guess we better make this our best show yet,” said Geoff Ramsey, Let’s Play Creative Director and co-founder of Rooster Teeth. “Bringing this live show to movie theaters allows us to involve more of our community and make this an event that people can experience from anywhere, so we’ll probably try hard for once.”
Let’s Play is Achievement Hunter’s successful long-running video series, which began when co-founder Geoff Lazer Ramsey, along with another Achievement Hunter team member, would perform running commentary on a select game each week. “Let’s Play Minecraft” solidified its success and set the stage for the establishment of its own YouTube channel. In 2016, Funhaus, ScrewAttack, Kinda Funny, The Creatures and Cow Chop partnered with Let’s Play resulting in a collaboration that brings gaming channels beyond Achievement Hunter on the Let’s Play channel, ultimately creating deeper variety and comedy to the Let’s Play network.
“Let’s Play Live piqued our interest after they continued to sell out 3,000 plus seat venues in major cities across the country,” Fathom Events CEO John Rubey said. “We are pleased to partner with Rooster Teeth to take this unique live event to the big screen and make it accessible for more audiences across the country.”
