Newgrass fan favorite Greensky Bluegrass is teaming with HFYI, a leader in on-demand destination for live entertainment, to unveil a livestream concert series called “The Leap Year Sessions,” debuting Aug. 7 at 6 p.m. PDT.
Fans can catch a new show every Friday through September, eight shows in total on the band’s virtual “tour” through the HYFI platform.
“After months of being apart from each other, the feeling of playing music with my band of brothers was nothing short of pure joy,” Greensky Bluegrass member Anders Beck says. “The real icing on the cake is that we get to pump these shows into your living rooms in super high definition. We can’t wait to be with you again!”
The band’s Paul Hoffman adds, “It’s alive. In a venue. With lights and speakers. It’s been over 100 days since we played music together. Longer than ever. It feels so great to play again. We wish you all could be here, but for now, we’ll come to you. Tune in. Friday night is back.”
Greensky Bluegrass recently postponed a three-night run scheduled in Septamber at Red Rocks Amphitheatre near Denver — one of the band’s highlights of any year that isn’t interrupted by a pandemic. It may be able to take solace in the fact that fans will still be able to a see a virtual live performance.
Tickets for individual shows are available at HYFI’s website for $14.95 per show or $99.95 for the entire 8-show series. Concerts will be archived following the live broadcast.
Brenton Henry, President of HYFI said, “We set out to build HYFI not only to connect artists with their fans, but also to allow artists to reconnect with each other. We saw that loud and clear on Wednesday. Delivering these high-quality experiences lets us tell fans this is the minimum to expect from us, so we can charge a reasonable fee for access and allow us to support these artists and their crews in a meaningful way.”
The shows will spotlight HDR 4K production that is being provided by 201 Productions, award-winning leaders in producing multi-camera live coverage utilizing 4K mobile fly pack video recording systems. Their live coverage can be seen across major music tours, festivals, and corporate events.
