Sublime’s punk-ska-reggae blend was reaching new heights when frontman Bradley Nowell died in May 1996, but the Long Beach, California, rockers’ legacy lives on in 3-Ring Circus: Live at the Palace – October 21, 1995.
Sublime took over the Palace in Hollywood (now known as the Avalon) seven months before Nowell’s untimely death and nine months before the release of their third and final studio album, Sublime. Nowell, bassist Eric Wilson and drummer Bud Gaugh tear into favorites like “Date Rape” and “Badfish,” visit covers like the Grateful Dead’s “Scarlet Begonias” and preview Sublime tracks like “Caress Me Down” and “Garden Grove” months before their release.
3-Ring Circus: Live at the Palace – October 21, 1995 is the first Sublime concert to be officially released on CD and DVD, and will be available June 18th. The album also marks the band’s 25th anniversary, celebrating their first ever show on July 4th, 1988. Visit the Sublime store or Amazon for preorders.
