Living Dead’ Back to Cinemas Nationwide October 25 Only

Sidesplitting and Brain-Eating Mayhem Comes to
U.S. Movie Theaters for One Spooky Night This Fall

DENVER – September 20, 2017 – Just in time for Halloween, movie theater audiences can enjoy a scarily hilarious riff of the movie that kicked off the zombie craze as RiffTrax’s laughter-craftsmen, Michael J. NelsonKevin Murphy, and Bill Corbett (of Mystery Science Theater 3000® fame), take onNight of the Living Dead. Originally broadcast in October 2013, Fathom Events and RiffTrax will bring this frighteningly funny one-night event, “Best of RiffTrax Live: Night of the Living Dead,” back to movie theaters nationwide on Wednesday, October 25 at 7:30 p.m. local time.

In addition to the feature content, audiences will get to experience an acknowledgement to the late George Romero through a special introduction from RiffTrax.

“I think people will enjoy our loving take on George Romero’s classic,” Michael J. Nelson of RiffTrax said. “It’s a rare privilege – and a heck of a lot of fun – to take on a movie that literally invented a genre.”

This classic 1968 horror film, by the legendary late director George Romero, is where the omnipresent zombie craze all began. When a young woman named Barbara is attacked in a cemetery by zombies, she flees to an abandoned farm house. There she’s joined by a ragtag group of survivors who band together to wait out the apocalypse, with the occasional light descent into madness. The rest of the plotline plays out like The Big Chill, but instead of Glenn Close sobbing naked in the shower, they board up windows and occasionally get devoured alive. Shotguns! Molotov cocktails! Exploding cars! Headshots galore! “Best of RiffTrax Live: Night of the Living Dead is guaranteed to be scarier than Brad Pitt’s beard in World War Z and funnier than the acting on The Walking Dead!

“Night of the Living Dead” is one of our most popular RiffTrax titles to date, and we’re excited to be able to bring it back to theaters for Halloween.” Fathom Events VP of Programming Kymberli Frueh said. “Mike, Kevin and Bill always put on a hysterical night of entertainment, and this zombie cult classic doesn’t disappoint.”

“Best of RiffTrax Live: Night of the Living Dead was the 11th title event broadcast to movie theaters since Fathom Events and RiffTrax began their partnership in 2009.

***Editor’s Note: Michael J. Nelson, Kevin Murphy, Bill Corbett will be available for select interviews.
