Larry consults, designs and implements hands-on imaging campaigns on behalf of his clients, which include entertainment industry artists, executives and corporations. His corporate and entertainment concerns, as well as his close relationships with all levels of media, are unparalleled. Under his direction, Scoop Marketing has grown to be one of the industry’s most respected marketing/public relations companies, developing unique, cutting-edge, results-oriented campaigns.
Larry led the marketing team and helped engineer the highly successful promotional campaign for Long Road Out of Eden, the Eagles’ first album in 30 years. Available exclusively at Wal-Mart, Long Road Out of Eden became the best selling album by a group in 2007, as well as the third best-selling album of the year–selling more than 5 million units worldwide.
The continued relationship between Larry and Ticketmaster, the world’s leading ticketing company, dates back to 1990. He has guided the ticketing company in establishing their website, Ticketmaster.com, as a center of the company’s activities. Additionally, he has worked with Ticketmaster in such areas as marketing, public relations and business development.
Larry was instrumental in the launch of Nielsen SoundScan and Nielsen BDS, now the leading information systems that are the industry standard for tracking music sales. These resources have become the prevailing barometer of a project’s success by monitoring and measuring music sales. So much so that just the word “scan” has become a catchphrase for the progress of a record among music industry movers, shakers and tastemakers. Larry has arranged for the Nielsen SoundScan, BDS, VideoScan and ringtone charts and data to appear on a regular basis in such publications as The Wall Street Journal, USA Today and other top media outlets.
On behalf of AEG Live concerts, one of the world’s largest producers of live entertainment, Larry has developed unique and creative visibility campaigns for such tours as Bon Jovi, Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, Prince, Eagles, Rod Stewart, Dancing with the Stars, American Idol and many more.
Prior to founding Scoop Marketing in 1990, Larry was Executive VP of the MCA Music Entertainment Group, where he directed the marketing activities of MCA Concerts and Amphitheaters, MCA Distribution, Winterland merchandising, and MCA Music Publishing and Records. Larry previously held the post of MCA VP of Artist Development, working with such artists as Bobby Brown, Tom Petty and Tracey Ullman, as well as soundtracks including Beverly Hills Cop and Miami Vice. Larry was also responsible for the development of the innovative “mall tour,” which turned an unknown 15-year-old named Tiffany into a six-times-platinum recording artist in the span of three months. Prior to MCA, Larry worked with Front Line Management and Irving Azoff, the manager of the Eagles, Steely Dan, Michael McDonald, Stevie Nicks, Jimmy Buffett and many others.
